MARTYRS AND HEROS

The Great Umueri Martyrs are list of those who paid the supreme price of their live to ensure that Umueri would lives. They are as follow:

* Obekwe Oralia - A great Umueri patriot and Community Leader. He was the President General of Umueri General Assembly during the height of lawlessness following the terror unleached in Umueri by group of Robbers and bandit. Unfortunately he was assasinated by the hoodlums

* Emma Oballa - A Great Umueri Community leader and Businessman. He was assasinated by the hoodlums during the regime of terror in umueri occassioned by the crisis of 1999

* Onyeabosi Onwubor was killed by hudlum in his house and set ablaze because he stands for the truth.

* Paul Aloefuna - Another community Leader who was cut down at his prime during the regime of terror. He was killed for standing on side of truth by the enemies of truth

* Obanyelu Okonkwo - One of those that lost their lives in the hands of the hoodlums during post 1999 crisis

* Joseph Nnagbuo - A great Community leader who was also killed during the regime of terror.

* Ajeh Joseph Ozeemena Anakor Aghaebe - The Great Chief Priest of Aro Oracle. He was assassinated during the same period of terror in Umueri during post 1999 crisis

* Motelu Okoye - A Great Native Doctor and Herbalist was assasinated during that evil days of terror occassioned by robbers that hold the community to ransom

* Onyeabosi Onwubor was killed by hoodlum in his house and set ablaze because he stands for the truth.

* Mrs Okwuchukwu Nwakwudo sufferd a similar death, because her son was on the side of the youth that want to liberate Umueri from oppression of armed robbers.

* Geofrey Igweadiani choose to be a hero than a traitor, he was killed by the hudlums that oppressed our town.

* Mr. Anthony Obalim(Teacher Obalim) was murdered by the hoodlums on 17th April 2001 for standing on the side of truth

* Mr Dieli, Teacher Joe, Ibemmu and many more are heroes who choose to die than see evil rule over the town and they all paid the supreme price

 * Ajeh Sylvester Nwasolu-  The Second Regning Aje(Chief Priest) to pay the ultimate prize in quick succession. He was killed in 2007 for rallying the Umueri Youths on rescue mission

* Chioma Ikeli Anakwe- A protege of Ikeli Anakwe dynasty was also killed along with Aje Sylvester Nwasolu while on rescue mission in the year 2007 at Nneyi.

 

GREAT UMUERI MARTYRS KILLED IN COMMUNAL CLASHES

These are list of people that died during various communal crisis and the invasion of Umueri in 1995/99. They are as follow:

* Nwasa and Brother Ezenwa - were brutally murdered by their maternal relatives of Aguleri. This was amongst the reasons of 1964 communal clashes between Umueri and Aguleri

* Igboanugo Nworji - Was killed by Mobile Policemen during the 1995 Aguleri Invasion. The son of the priest of Ovianwagbo Shrine in Otuocha located at the back of Amaeze was gunned downed by unknown mobile Policeman sent to keep peace

* Francasa Ekweoba, was brutally murdered beside Umueri Girls High school,Ugume during the 1995 invasion of Umueri by Aguleri.

* Ogbuevi Nkachukwu - A prominent Umuerian from Ugume Village was abducted on his way home and killed in cold blood in 1995

* Messrs. Chieke and Anthony Mbuesi were both beheaded during the 1999 Invasion

* Sunday Vintage Diboh - was killed during the 1999 invasion of Umueri at Enuobodo umueri

* Obanyelu Ikeli, a Protege of Ikeli Anaekwe Dynasty. He was killed on a rescue mission of umueri civilians during the 1999 Invasion by a Mobile Police officer at Otuocha

* Oforka celem was beheaded by the Aguleri's at Oye Mgbago market square in 1999
